Devotees throng Gosainkunda for Janai Purnima celebrations

Rasuwa, August 19 - Devotees have been flocking to Gosainkunda since early this morning to observe Janaipurnima, bathing and worshiping at this revered pilgrimage site.

Located at an altitude of 14,100 feet, Gosainkunda is a sacred location where pilgrims gather with the belief that their wishes will be granted by the deities. The Gosainkunda Area Development Committee reported a steady stream of worshipers at the site.

On Janai Purnima, devotees also journey to Niladri Mountain as part of their religious observance. Sanjeev DM, Chairman of the Committee, noted that many are traveling to the mountain for rituals. Milan Sapkota, Assistant Conservation Officer of Langtang National Park, mentioned that the park is assisting the pilgrims at Gosainkunda. District Police Chief Keshav Bhattarai added that additional security patrols have been deployed due to the high number of visitors, with oversight from a police inspector.

The Himalaya Rescue Association is providing first aid at a health camp set up in Gosainkunda for travelers in need. Chief District Officer Bed Nidhi Khanal confirmed that rescue teams are on standby for those who may fall ill.

According to the police, parking facilities managed by Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-6 currently accommodate 130 buses, 350 jeeps, cars, vans, and 420 motorcycles. The Chamber of Commerce is working on arranging additional transport for the private sector to meet passenger demands.
