Seven rescued from flooding in Thame river
Kathmandu, August 16: Seven individuals trapped by flooding in the Thame River, located in Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality Ward No. 5 of Solukhumbu, have been rescued. Solukhumbu's Chief District Officer Devi Pandey Khatri confirmed that a Nepal Army team successfully carried out the rescue operation.
However, one person from the affected area remains out of contact. SSP Bhim Dahal of the Koshi Province Police Office informed Ratopati that they have lost communication with the individual.
The flood has resulted in significant damage, including the destruction of 12 houses, a clinic and school operated by the Himalayan Trust. Dahal noted that seven additional houses are at risk due to potential increases in the flow of the Dudhkoshi and Sunkoshi rivers. Authorities have advised residents in these coastal areas to remain vigilant.
The flooding is attributed to the bursting of the glacial lake.
