Nepal embassy's mobile passport service in Lisbon renews 3,829 passports

Kathmandu, August 14: The Passport Department and the Nepali Embassy in Paris have organized a mobile passport renewal service in Lisbon, Portugal, from August 2 to August 13. During this period, 3,829 Nepalis utilized the service to renew their passports.

The breakdown of the service includes 121 renewals for minors, 3,380 renewals for adults, and 328 replacements for lost passports. The service generated a revenue of 491,580 euros, equivalent to 72,11,554 Nepali rupees.

The mobile service was staffed by the Director and Branch Officer of the Passport Department, as well as the Third Secretary and local staff from the Nepali Embassy in Paris. The National Coordinating Committee of the Non-Resident Nepali Association in Portugal managed the service, with support from the Nepali Consulate General in Portugal and various local social organizations.

The Embassy also announced plans for another camp to renew passports for Nepalis who have applied but have not yet received their documents. Over 50,000 Nepalis currently reside in Portugal.
