Thick fog suspected in Air Dynasty helicopter crash

Kathmandu, August 7: The Air Dynasty helicopter crash is suspected to have been caused by adverse weather conditions. Shivapuri Rural Municipality Chairman Gobinda Thapalia told Ratopati that, based on the geography of the crash site, bad weather appears to be the likely cause.

Chairman Thapalia said that thick fog had enveloped the area since the morning.

He noted that there was no evidence suggesting the helicopter collided with a hill, describing the crash site as a hollow rather than a hilly area.

While some have speculated that the helicopter hit a hill, Thapalia disagreed, attributing the crash to the dense fog which may have obscured the terrain and led to the accident.

The helicopter, which crashed in a forested area near Suryachaur, was en route from Gurje Pass. Thapalia confirmed that the bodies of all five individuals on board have been recovered.

Communication with Kathmandu Tower was lost within three minutes after the helicopter's departure.

The Civil Aviation Authority stated that the helicopter took off from Kathmandu Airport at 1:54 PM on Wednesday.
