Flights disrupted at TIA due to heavy rain

Kathmandu, Aug 6: Flights to and from Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) have been disrupted due to continuous rain.

Subash Jha, the TIA spokesperson, informed that poor visibility is affecting aircraft takeoffs and landings.

Jha explained that the adverse weather conditions have caused some planes to be unable to land and remain circling in the sky, while others have been diverted to different airports.

Flights scheduled for the morning have also been impacted by the persistent rain.

According to Visual Flight Rules (VFR), a minimum visibility of 1000 meters is required for landings.

Currently, visibility at Tribhuwan Airport is below this threshold.

As a result of the poor weather, Turkish Airlines' flight from Istanbul was diverted back to its origin, while Fly Dubai and Druk Air flights were unable to land and remain airborne.
