Prachanda wishes on World Environment Day

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' extended his heartfelt wishes on the occasion of World Environment Day, urging people to unite in the shared mission of safeguarding nature and the environment.

In a message issued today, Prime Minister Dahal conveyed his warm regards to all individuals marking World Environment Day 2024, an annual observance on June 5th initiated by the United Nations.

"I believe that this day, dedicated to reviving ecosystems and combating desertification and drought, will further inspire us to mitigate the impacts of climate change and ensure a sustainable, clean environment for present and future generations," expressed Prime Minister Dahal in his congratulatory message. He highlighted that Nepal's Constitution enshrines every citizen's right to live in a clean and healthy environment.

Prime Minister Dahal underscored the government's commitment to preserving environmental equilibrium and sustainability through scientifically managed land utilization, focusing on productivity, natural balance, and environmental sustainability.

"While the adverse effects of global climate change may seem distant, Nepal is already experiencing significant impacts. The government is actively pursuing Nepal's entitlements to climate damage by fulfilling its commitments made in various international forums," stated the Prime Minister in his message. He emphasized the necessity of collective action from all stakeholders, including government bodies at federal, provincial, and local levels, as well as the private sector, civil society, and national and international organizations, to tackle environmental challenges.

Prime Minister Dahal stressed the importance of prioritizing sustainable, eco-friendly, and green development in policies and programs across all levels of government. He called upon relevant agencies, organizations, and ordinary citizens to participate in the nationwide celebration of World Environment Day under the theme 'Our Land: Our Future'.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to all agencies and stakeholders contributing to environmental protection and management.
