Hong Kong bags third place in ACC Premier Cup, beats Nepal by four wickets

KATHMANDU: Hong Kong sealed third position in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup with a nail-biting win over Nepal by four wickets on Saturday.

Nepal chose to bat after winning the toss, setting a target of 140 runs.

In the 20-over showdown, Nepal managed 139 runs, losing eight wickets along the way.

Leading Nepal's charge was Dipendra Singh Airee with 44 runs, while Sandeep Jora and Rohit Poudel added 22 and 21 runs respectively.

Hong Kong's Ayush Shukla shone with the ball, taking three crucial wickets.

After falling short in the semifinals against UAE and Oman, Nepal and Hong Kong fiercely competed for the third spot.

In their pursuit of 140 runs, Hong Kong faced a rollercoaster ride but ultimately crossed the finish line.

Anshuman Rath starred with a resilient 65 runs, complemented by Babar Hayat's 26 runs. Sompal Kami and Dipendra Singh Airee put up a strong fight for Nepal, taking three and two wickets respectively.

With this triumph, Hong Kong secures a berth in the Emerging Cup by clinching the third position in the tournament.
