Nepal sets 140-run target for Hong Kong in ACC Premier Cup

KATHMANDU: Nepal has thrown down the gauntlet, setting a chase of 140 runs for Hong Kong in their clash for third place in the ACC Premier Cup.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, Nepal put up a total of 139 runs within the stipulated 20 overs, losing eight wickets along the way.

Dipendra Singh Airee led the charge with 44 runs, with Sandeep Jora and Rohit Poudel chipping in with 22 and 21 runs respectively.

Hong Kong's Ayush Shukla proved to be a thorn in Nepal's side, snatching three wickets.

Both teams, having tasted defeat in their semifinal matchups - Nepal against UAE and Hong Kong versus Oman, are now vying for the consolation prize of third place.

The Premier Cup's final showdown is slated between hosts Oman and UAE tomorrow.

Nepal has their sights set on clinching a berth in the Emerging Cup by clinching victory in the battle for third place.

With a spot in the ACC Emerging Cup at stake, the top three teams from the Premier Cup will be keenly contesting their places.
