Taplejung - Construction of a bridge over Tamor River that links more than half dozen villages of the district been accelerated.
Approximately 70 percent of construction has completed so far, and the remaining task would complete in one month, said engineer for the contractor company, Sushil Sah. At least 25 workers were involved in the construction.
Started eight years ago, the project witnessed a halt after the bridge was swept away by a flooding two years ago.
Three contractors—Kankai, Mainachuli and Yakthunghang—had been contracted in 2066 to complete the project within two and a half years. The project cost is estimated to be approximately Rs 100 million.
With no bridge over the river, over half a dozen villages around the river were cut off from vehicular transportation and are lagging behind development activities.
As a result, supply of goods and other materials is being made at high charges, while dirt tracks opened across the river are waiting upgrading for vehicles to ply.
