Clear Skies Ahead: Weather set to brighten in Kathmandu starting Sunday

KATHMANDU: The light rain hanging around various parts of the country is expected to stick around until Saturday, says the Meteorological Forecasting Division, Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

But hey, here's the silver lining – things are set to get better from Sunday onwards as the pesky westerly wind eases up.

Meteorologist Raju Pradhananga from the Department explains that the pre-monsoon season is kicking up a fuss, especially in the eastern areas.

Blame it on the local winds, a low-pressure system cozying up near Nepal, and those moisture-packed winds from the Bay of Bengal.

"Right now, it's a mix of clouds everywhere. Some hilly spots in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are getting showers. But cheer up – Sunday is looking brighter," says Pradhananga.

The Division suggests that there might be light rain or a rumble of thunder in a few spots in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as some parts of the Terai.

And for those up in the hills and mountains, there's a chance of a light dusting of snow in a few spots.
