Enhanced security measures planned for Holi celebrations in Kathmandu Valley
KATHMANDU: As the vibrant festival of Holi approaches, the District Police Range, Kathmandu, is gearing up to ensure the safety and discipline of the festivities within the Kathmandu Valley.
A total of 3,000 security personnel will be deployed across the Valley tomorrow, the day of Holi, to preempt any potential disturbances during the celebrations, according to Superintendent of Police Navaraj Adhikari, spokesperson for the District Police Range Kathmandu.
In an effort to maintain order and uphold public safety, authorities are poised to crack down on unlawful activities such as driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, creating excessive noise while consuming alcohol, and causing disruption to public peace.
"We have urged everyone to partake in the Holi festivities in a civilized and dignified manner. Stringent measures will be taken against those found engaging in unlawful behavior," SP Adhikari emphasized.
The security deployment will comprise 2,500 uniformed personnel and 500 officers in plain clothes, tasked with ensuring law and order throughout the duration of the festival. Vigilant checks and monitoring will commence from Sunday morning to preempt any untoward incidents.
Additionally, individuals involved in activities such as smearing colors and hurling water-filled balloons will also be subject to legal repercussions, as authorities endeavor to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants.
With these proactive security measures in place, the Kathmandu Valley is poised to celebrate Holi with joy and enthusiasm while prioritizing public safety and discipline.
