Gold Smuggling Probe Commission presents 485-page report to Home Minister Lamichhane, promises firm actions
KATHMANDU: The Gold Smuggling Probe Commission has handed over its comprehensive report to the government, marking a significant development in the ongoing efforts to combat illicit activities.
Recently appointed Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane received the report from Chairman of the Probe Commission, Dilli Raj Acharya, underscoring the government's commitment to addressing the issue of gold smuggling.
With a hefty 485 pages, the report contains meticulous analysis and recommendations aimed at rectifying the situation.
Chairman Acharya emphasized that the Commission has proposed actions against government officials implicated in lapses during the investigations.
Expressing firm resolve, Minister Lamichhane asserted the government's determination to crack down on gold smuggling and hold perpetrators accountable.
"I am committed to taking strict actions against any government official found neglecting their duties or aiding those involved in smuggling," he stated upon receiving the report.
The establishment of the Gold Smuggling Probe Commission by the government on Ashoj 14 underscores the seriousness with which the authorities are tackling this issue, signaling a concerted effort to curb illegal activities and uphold the rule of law.
