Commission requests 15-day extension to investigate gold smuggling cases
KATHMANDU: The High-Level Probe Commission tasked with investigating recent cases of gold smuggling has appealed to the government for a 15-day extension to submit its report, citing insufficient time.
Chairman of the Commission, Dilliraj Acharya, stated that the Commission requires additional time to compile and submit the report by March 13. Acharya highlighted delays in report writing due to pending details and responses from various agencies, as well as the need to analyze additional evidence and facts provided by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police.
Acharya emphasized that this extension period should be viewed as a necessary phase for thorough examination and report preparation.
Initially given a three-month mandate when formed on October 1, the Commission was later granted an additional two months to complete its tasks.
The commission, led by former High Court Judge Acharya, consists of members Kishor Jung Karki, Prem Raj Joshi, and former Additional Inspector General (AIG) Sahakul Thapa.
