KMC introduces free parking near Dharahara to ease urban congestion

KATHMANDU: In a bid to address the challenges posed by the recent restrictions on on-road parking in New Road, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has introduced a commendable initiative by offering a free parking facility near Dharahara, effective from today.

Raju Nath Pandey, the chief of the Metropolis police force, announced that the newly designated parking area spans an impressive 50,000 square feet, making it one of the largest parking facilities in the country in terms of infrastructure.

This decision aims to alleviate the parking concerns in the city center and provide a convenient and accessible option for residents and visitors alike.

The move follows a similar initiative in Kathmandu Tower, where the metropolis has successfully provided additional parking space.

The KMC's commitment to addressing the parking challenges in the city reflects a proactive approach to urban planning and management.

The residents can now take advantage of this substantial parking area near Dharahara, contributing to a more organized and efficient traffic system in the heart of Kathmandu.
