Embassy of India in Nepal celebrates 75th Republic Day

KATHMANDU: The Embassy of India in Nepal marked the 75th Republic Day of India with a ceremony held at its premises in Kathmandu. Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, inaugurated the event by hoisting the national flag of India, symbolizing the spirit of the Republic.

During the program, Ambassador Srivastava extended best wishes to the Indian diaspora in Nepal, fostering a sense of unity and celebration among the community. The occasion featured a screening of a video clip featuring the address to the nation by Indian President Droupadi Murmu. In her message, President Murmu highlighted India's achievements across various sectors, including India's chairing of the G20 Summit and the Chandrayaan-3 mission.

In a gesture of support and honor, the Indian envoy distributed Rs 50.7 million and blankets to the wives of deceased army personnel and their close relatives. This act of recognition underscored the commitment to those who have sacrificed for the nation.

Ambassador Srivastava reiterated the Indian Embassy's dedication to supporting Ex-Indian Gurkha soldiers and unveiled a magazine titled "Ex-2024." The magazine showcases the welfare efforts undertaken by the Indian government for the Ex-Indian Gurkha soldiers residing in Nepal.

As part of its cultural outreach, the Indian Embassy gifted books worth Rs 1.9 million to 30 different organizations, promoting the exchange of knowledge and fostering intellectual connections.

The celebration of the 75th Republic Day in Nepal was not only a commemoration of India's historical milestones but also an expression of solidarity and goodwill towards the Indian diaspora and the broader community in Nepal.
