KMC bans on-road parking in New Road area from today
KATHMANDU: In a groundbreaking move, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has rolled out a bold ban on on-road parking along the well-traveled black-topped roads in the bustling New Road area of Kathmandu starting this Tuesday.
To streamline the implementation of this directive, the metropolis has successfully established a complimentary parking facility at Kathmandu Tower, offering a generous capacity for 300 four-wheelers and 700 two-wheelers, as confirmed by Raju Nath Pandey, Chief of Metropolitan Police.
Highlighting the commitment to a cleaner environment, the metropolis is gearing up to initiate a specialized sanitation program in the designated area, coinciding with the newly enforced restrictions on parking in the vibrant New Road locale.
The restricted zones encompass key areas, stretching from Dharma Path, Juddha Statue to Indra Chowk, Kichhapokhari, MahaBoudha, and the vicinity around Bir Hospital.
This strategic move comes on the heels of the earlier success of a parking prohibition order in the Janche area.
The KMC's proactive measures aim to revolutionize traffic management and elevate the overall pedestrian experience in the heart of the city.
