5 writs against TikTok ban reach SC
Registration of the writs to be decided only after study
KATHMANDU, Nov 17: 5 writs have reached the Supreme Court against the decision of the government after the government banned the Social media TikTok.
According to the Information Officer of the Supreme Court Govinda Ghimire, the 5 writs that have reached the Supreme Court, are under consideration, and the decision to register the writs in the Supreme Court will be made only after studying the writs.
The government had decided to shut down TikTok for the time being saying that many offenses were made against Public Courtesy and the TikTok Company did not assist in the reduction of crimes caused by TikTok and the prosecution of the culprits.
The Internet Service Providers of Nepal have removed the access to TikTok after the Cabinet meeting on November 13 decided to ban TikTok, against which, writs have reached the Supreme Court with demands of annulment of the decision made by the government.
