Udayapur's places in grip of viral fever
Gaighat (Udayapur) - Viral fever has taken its toll in some parts of the district with health institutions including the District Hospital being crammed with patients lately, health workers said.
Places like Triyuga, Belaka and Chaudandi municipalities and Sunkoshi, Rautamai and Udayapur rural municipalities are in the grip of the disease for past one week.
The District Hospital is currently dealing with more than 60 patients of the disease on a daily basis, more than the beds it has. As a result, the patients are being treated on floors and anywhere there is space, said Dr Bishal Dev, chief of medical section at the hospital. The hospital has a total of 50 beds.
The patients complained that they have a headache, sore throat and a fever, said Dr Dev.
Consumption of contaminated water, weather change and rainfall are blamed for the disease, the hospital said.
