1 killed, 12 injured in knife attack in Beijing shopping mall

BEIJING One person was killed and 12 injured in a knife attack at a shopping mall in downtown Beijing Sunday.
The attack occurred around 1 p.m. at Joy City in the commercial area of Xidan, Xicheng District, police said.
Three men and 10 women were sent to hospital after the attack, and one woman died of her injuries. None of the injured are in critical condition.
Police have caught the suspect and identified him as a 35-year-old man surnamed Zhu. He is a native of Xihua County in central China's Henan Province.
The suspect has confessed to the attack and said he was motivated by personal grievances, according to the police.
A witness who was dining at a restaurant on the fifth floor told Xinhua that she saw a man suddenly take a knife out of his bag and start hacking at people indiscriminately.
Video footage circulated on the Internet showed blood spattered on the floor in part of the mall. A chef at the restaurant told Xinhua that he saw that one of the victims was injured in the neck. Enditem
