Attacker states - "I am a nationalist, I used khukuri because leaders aren't doing their work"

KATHMANDU, Sep 6: Shyam Bahadur Sapkota, 47, has been found to be carrying a khukuri before participating in the program at the Reporters Club.

Nepal Congress Deputy General Secretary, Mahendra Yadav, was attacked by Sapkota by a Khukuri while leaving the Reporters Club in Bhrikutimandap.

An officer involved in the investigation told Ratopati that Sapkota, a self-proclaimed social activist, was found to have brought a khukuri in a bag to participate in the program. He has been said to have carried out the attack in a planned manner.

Sapkota has been arrested and is being kept in the Police Circle in Singha Durbar.

He said to the police - "I am a nationalist. I used the khukuri in anger because the leaders aren't doing their work."

Attacker Sapkota is revealed to be a monarchist who supports the former king.
