Government decides to celebrate Constitution Day for three days

KATHMANDU, Sep 3: The government has decided to celebrate Constitution Day for three days. 

A meeting of the Constitution Day Main Celebration Committee held at the Prime Minister's office in Singha Durbar today decided to celebrate the Day for three days beginning on September 19. 

Special talk programmes, public awareness programmes, publication of the Constitution Day Souvenir, interactions and Deepawali, the lighting of oil-fed lamps, are the parts of the celebrations. 

On September 20, the Constitution Day special ceremony will be held at local Tundikhel.   

In his address to the meeting, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'  described Constitution Day as the moment for celebrations for the entire citizens and it should be celebrated in a way that the general public could have their ownership. 

It may be noted that Ashwin 3 in the Nepal calendar is celebrated as Constitution Day in commemoration of the promulgation of the Constitution by the historic Constituent Assembly on Asoj 3, 2072 BS ( September 20, 2015).
