Student Union leaders arrested from Baluwatar
KATHMANDU, Aug 28: A group of leaders of the Nepal Student Union (NSU) have been arrested from Baluwatar for protesting against the unreasonable increase in the fees of engineering courses.
The leaders of the Student Union were arrested by the police after they demonstrated a protest in front of the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar.
A dozen leaders including central members Adarsha Malla, Bijay Mahato, NSU Kathmandu's Chairman Ansul KC, Lalitpur's Chairman Saroj Ghorasaini, leaders Rajendra Chataut, Saugat Phuyal, Salan KC and others were among the arrested.
Sulav Chapagain, the Student Union's Unit President of the Pulchowk Engineering Campus, has been on a hunger strike demanding the Institute of Engineering (IOE) to revoke the fee hike. The Student Union is also on a protest demanding the protection of Chapagain's life.
