Water flow of Saptakoshi decreases

BIRATNAGAR, Aug 14: The flow of water in the Saptakoshi River, which had reached its highest point in the last 34 years, has started decreasing this afternoon.

After the increase in the water flow, all 56 gates of the Saptakoshi barrage were opened. According to the Sunsari District Police Office SP, Prabhu Dhakal, the opening of all 56 doors of the barrage is rare in history.

But according to the measurement taken at noon, the water flow has dropped to 365,000 cusecs per second. The flow of the water was 452,000 cusecs per second in the morning.

This record of water flow is the highest in 34 years. In the year 1989, the flow of water in the Saptakoshi River was measured at 472,000 cusecs per second.
