Premier hosts Student Leadership Summit 2080
KATHMANDU, June 13: Premier International IB Continuum School recently concluded the Student Leadership Summit 2080 for its student leadership body. Facilitated by the school’s academic and administrative leadership team, the Summit brought together students from grades six through twelve of the IB MYP and IB DP programs at Premier under one holistic umbrella.
According to the school’s Academic Director, Pravina Thapa, Premier has been providing leadership opportunities to its students since the school’s inception. Besides the academic rigor of the IB programs at Nepal’s only IB Continuum school, events such as the leadership Summit are wonderful opportunities to understand a young adult beyond the typical structure of a school whilst offering young leaders a concentrated learning experience and valuable opportunities to collaborate and foster camaraderie with other fellow leaders.
Drishyant Maharjan, an IB Diploma Program student, was all praises for the amazing experience garnered. “It was an exceptional experience where I got to explore my own character as a leader. Alongside strengthening the bond I had with my fellow student leaders we were able to understand and learn how every person's individual strengths and weaknesses can be monumental to a team’s collective success. The most enlightening aspect of the summit was the exploration of our own leadership styles that really showed us what type of a leader we are. The confidence and ideas gained through this will undoubtedly play a great role in my further roles not just as a Student Ambassador, but even in my future endeavors both within the school community and beyond."
Aagaman Gautam, an IB MYP Year 1 student and one of the youngest members of the student leadership body at 10 years, said, “It was a huge learning experience. The leadership lessons that I received are ideas that I will carry with me for a long time.” Aarya Mittal, an eighth-grade student and one of the many girl leaders at the Summit shared, “It was a wonderful bonding opportunity and getting to know many students that I had never previously spoken to. I also learned the basic nuances of public speaking and how to keep an audience hooked. It was a very knowledgeable experience.”
Premier’s School Director, Pawitra Limbu, was confident of the potential that students harbor and was keen to develop leadership structures for the younger generation not just at Premier but schools across Nepal. “That way the education sector will truly contribute to grooming the leaders that will lead Nepal in the global arena of the future”, she said.
