SC’s green signal to file case against PM Dahal is against comprehensive peace agreement: Maoist Center

KATHMANDU, March 5: The Supreme Court’s order to allow to file case against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is against the comprehensive peace agreement, according to the CPN (Maoist Center).

Issuing a press statement, Dev Gurung, the general secretary of the party, made it clear that it is against the comprehensive peace agreement reached between the Government of Nepal and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), that calls for political, economic and social change in the country and adherence to humanitarian law and human rights principles, including through the  establishment of a National Human Rights Commission, a Truth and Reconciliation Commission and a National Peace and Rehabilitation Commission. It is against the agreement to use power, take action and make any sort of decision which directly falls under the jurisdiction of the commission, reads the statement.

Earlier, a writ petition was filed at the apex court demanding to arrest PM Dahal and initiate investigation. PM Dahal has been accused of murdering thousands of people during the Maoist insurgency.
