Sandeep Lamichhane files petition at Supreme Court demanding to allow him to play international games

KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Sandeep Lamichhane, former Nepal Men’s National Cricket Team captain, has filed a petition at the Supreme Court demanding to allow him to play international matches.

Lamichhane was earlier accused of raping a minor and his case is currently sub-judice at the Kathmandu District Court. Soon after the police arrested Lamichhane, he was suspended. The Patan High Court later passed a verdict to release Lamichhane on bail of Rs 2,000,000. He then returned to the pitch and currently played in a triangular series against Scotland and Namibia.

As per the court’s order, Lamichhane is not allowed to leave Nepal unless the case against him is cleared.

Soon, the Nepali team is scheduled to play in the United Arab Emirates and as of now Lamichhane is not allowed to travel abroad.
