Nat'l conference of Limbu community in Chitwan

CHITWAN, Feb. 18: The 24th national conference of Kirat Yakthung Chumlung, an umbrella organisation of the Limbu Community of the country, is going to be held in Chitwan from February 19.

There would be participation of 288 representatives from 13 districts in the conference, according to General Secretary of Chumlung, Niranti Tumbapo.

He shared that the conference would determine a one-year policy and programme, passing organisational and progress reports as well as a financial report. 

Discussion would be held on various issues including the conservation of historic places and making the list of cultural heritages.

Chumlung Vice-Chair Kamal Limbu said as per the Census-2078, the population of Limbu is more than 387,000 in the country.  The organisation was established in 2046 BS with the objective of preserving the language and culture of the Kirati people.
