Know why Malaysian Home Minister is visiting Nepal

KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Home Minister of Malaysia Saifuddin Nasution Ismail is scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu this evening on a three-day official visit to Nepal. He is scheduled to arrive at 7:00 pm today, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his visit, the Malaysian Home Minister will be holding meetings with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is also handling the Home Ministry and DP Aryal, Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security.
Nepal and Malaysia are likely to make a labor agreement.
In recent years, Malaysia has been facing a shortage of laborers and Nepal could be a hub to solve the problem. After the economy is gradually getting better, Malaysia is in need of around 500,000 laborers. And, for Nepal, Malaysia has been one of the major destinations for foreign employment for a long period of time.
Besides, Malaysia is looking forward to welcoming a large number of foreign workers in the coming days and Home Minister Ismail is visiting Nepal accordingly.
Currently, there are around 300,000 Nepali nationals in Malaysia who reached there for employment.
