Ruling CPN (Maoist Center) wants Home Ministry
KATHMANDU, Feb 1: The ruling CPN (Maoist Center) is preparing to appoint someone from the party to the post of Home Minister.
The office bearer meeting and the standing committee meeting of the party held recently have already suggested to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal that the new Home Minister should be someone from the party. Now, the party is in the mood to keep the Home Ministry at any cost.
PM Dahal also held a meeting with KP Sharma Oli, chairman of CPN-UML, a key coalition partner of PM Dahal regarding the matter.
It has been learned that the two leaders have agreed to give some other ministry to Rabi Lamichhane-led Rashtriya Swatantra Party.
Earlier, during the formation of the new government after the general election, Rabi Lamichhane was given the responsibility of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs. Later, the Supreme Court scrapped Lamichhane’s parliamentary post declaring his Nepali citizenship illegal.
