KATHMANDU, Jan 27: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday scrapped the parliamentary post of Rabi Lamichhane ruling that Lamichhane’s citizenship is illegal. 
After the last hearing held on Friday in the constitutional bench headed by Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki, the Supreme Court ruled against Lamichhane's citizenship.
Earlier, advocates Rabi Raj Basaula and Yubaraj Poudel had filed a writ petition against Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs accusing Lamichhane of using the citizenship and passport of the United States of America (USA) without quitting the citizenship and passport of Nepal.
The petitioners have also demanded the apex court to scrap Lamichhhane’s post as a member of the House of Representatives ( HoR).
Lamichhane was recently elected a member of the House of Representatives (HoR) from Chitwan-2.
