Govt hikes long-haul transport fare upto 15 percent
KATHMANDU, April 3: The government has increased the long-haul transport fare upto 15 percent.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transportation took a decision to hike the fare of long-distance vehicles upto 15 percent.
According to the Department of Transport Management, the fare of the long-haul vehicles have been increased by 13 percent in the hilly region and 15 percent in the terai region.
Prior to this, the government had earlier hiked the fare of long-distance transport by 20 to 28 percent. The then Minister Basanta Nembang had taken a ministerial level decision to hike the fare citing hike in price of petroleum products on July 1.
With a hike in the fare of long-haul vehicles, the short-haul public vehicles have also begun demanding the same.
