MCC not to be tabled in parliament by FinMin Sharma
MC not to withdraw its support to government for now
KATHMANDU, Feb 19: As the ruling alliance had reached an agreement to allow the government to table the Millennium Corporate Challenge in Sunday’s House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, it has been learnt that the compact won’t be tabled in parliament by Finance Minister Janardan Sharma.
Minister Sharma is currently having rest after experiencing some health difficulties.
A meeting of the ruling alliance is currently underway at Baluwatar in Kathmandu to make a decision in this regard. Following the ruling alliance meeting, the Business Advisory Committee will prepare the schedule of the HoR meeting.
Even if the ruling alliance has reached an agreement to allow the government to table the MCC in parliament, key members CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN (Unified Socialist) have maintained that they won’t support the government to ratify it.
Besides, the CPN (MC) has decided not to withdraw its support to the government as of now, according to the sources. The party has already announced its intention to vote against the MCC in parliament. If it is anything to go by, the party will be unethical to remain in the government afterwards.
