Mahat appointed spokesperson of ruling NC
KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has been appointed in the post of the spokesperson of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC).
Mahat was nominated for the post of the party’s spokesperson by Prime Minister and President of NC, Sher Bahadur Deuba, according to Krishna Prasad Poudel, chief secretary at NC’s central office.
As per the party statute, NC grants a position equal to that of office bearers in the party.
The post of the spokesperson in the party had remained vacant after Biswa Prakash Sharma was elected in the post of the general secretary of the party during the 14th National Congress of the party. Mahat had suffered defeat in the convention for the post of general secretary.
