Govt decides to mix two different COVID-19 vaccines

KATHMANDU, Jan 29: The government has decided to administer booster doses of COVID-19 to people mixing the vaccines.

As per the recommendation of the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization under the World Health Organization and National Vaccine Advisory Committee, the government has decided to administer a booster dose to the elderly different from the vaccines they had earlier received.

With this decision in effect, the Health Ministry has issued a circulation for all the 77 District Health Offices to administer a booster dose of Covishield or Astrazeneca to people older than 60 years who had earlier received their first and second dose vaccine of Covishield, Astrazeneca, Moderna, Pfizer or Vero cell.

Likewise, the government has also directed the Health Offices to administer Covishield or AstraZeneca vaccine as the second dose in case of shortage of vaccine administered earlier as a first dose.

Similarly, those who had received Covishiled, Astrazeneca, Moderna, Pfizer, or Vero cell vaccines abroad will also be administered booster doses of Covishield or AstraZeneca.
