Ruling alliance’s meeting today, discuss NA by-polls, local election

KATHMANDU, Jan 21: A meeting of the high-level political coordination committee of the ruling alliance is scheduled to be held at 4 PM on Friday.

The meeting will dwell on the date of the National Assembly (NA) by-polls and the local level election, according to Gyanendra Karki, Minister for Communication and Information Technology.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at the official residence of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Lately, the key leaders of the ruling alliance seem divided on the issue of holding elections. Prime Minister Deuba has been advocating holding the election at the local level first but the Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) and Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) are in favor of holding the election of NA first.

After failing to reach a consensus among the key leaders, a similar meeting of the alliance scheduled for Thursday was postponed. Leaders Deuba, Dahal and Nepal had held a meeting shortly afterward.
