UML Gen Convention: Six excluding Bhusal elected chairmen

KATHMANDU: Of the seven candidates, Asta Laxmi Shakya has been elected vice chair of the CPN-UML securing the highest of 1,976 votes. 

Though the party’s main election committee is yet to unveil the final voting results, all the candidates proposed by Chairman KP Sharma Oli registered victory. 

Ghanashyam Bhusal, who fielded his candidacy challenging the list tabled by Chair Oli, suffered a loss. He managed to win only 725 votes against Surendra Pandey’s 1,925, Subash Nembang’s 1,865 and Bishnu Poudel’s 1,856. Similarly, Ram Bahadur Thapa, a former CPN (Maoist Leader) was also elected UML vice chair garnering 1,768 votes. 

Meanwhile, KP Sharma was elected party chairman for the second stint defeating his rival Bhim Rawal.
