2,096 votes cast, total expenses of convention stand at Rs 90 million
KATHMANDU, November 30: As many as 2,0864votes have been casted during an election held to elect new leadership in the main opposition party, the CPN-UML, under its 10th General Convention.
“Of 2,153 votes, 2,096 votes have been casted,” said Babu Ram Dahal, member of Election Commission of the party.
The party held its 10th National Congress from November 26 which was earlier scheduled to end in two days but was later extended for two more days after KP Oli failed to forge consensus for election in the party.
According to Sher Bahadur Tamang, secretary at the central office of the party, the total expenses of the convention was 90 million rupees.
Leaders KP Sharma Oli and Bhim Rawal are vying for the post of Chairman while leaders Subash Chandra Nembang, Ghanashyam Bhusal, Asta Laxmi Shakya, Bishnu Poudel, Surendra Pandey and Yubaraj Gwayali are vying for the post of party’s Vice-Chairman.
Likewise, leaders Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Ragubir Mahaseth, Chabilal Biswakarma, Lekraj Bhatta, Yogesh Bhattarai, Gokarna Bista and Padma Aryal are competing for the post of party secretary.
