Five UML office bearers including Senior Vice Chair Pokharel elected unopposed

CHITWAN, November 28: Five office bearers of the main opposition party, CPN-UML, including Ishwor Pokharel have been elected unanimously in the ongoing 10th National Congress of the party.

Pokharel was elected for the post of Senior Vice-Chairman of the party while Shankar Pokharel as the party’s general secretary.

Likewise, Deputy Secretary General trio Pradip Gwayali, Prithvi Subba Gurung and Bishnu Rimall were also elected unanimously.

“Even if an official decision regarding their election is yet to be made, it is certain that these leaders will be elected unanimously,” said a member of the Central Election Commission.

No other candidate filed candidacy to challenge then during the nomination period.

Similarly, party Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Vice-Chair Bhim Rawal have filed their candidacy for the post of party’s Chairman while seven others have staked their claim to the posts of six party’s vice chairs. Also, in the post of seven secretaries of the party, as many as nine leaders have filed their candidacy.
