EPL: Tigers suffer first defeat

KATHMANDU: 

Bhairahawa Gladiators beat Chitwan Tigers by six wickets in the first match of the day played under the Everest Premier League (EPL) on Monday. 

Tigers’ winning streak, however, came to an end as they failed to defend a total of 164 runs which they collected for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. 

The Tigers won the toss and elected to bat first. Their total was inspired by Mohammad Shahzad‘s 32 , Karim Janat ‘s 35 and Seekkuge Prasanna‘s 24. 

For Gladiators, Abinash Bohara took three wickets while Kushal Malla sent two batsmen to the pavilion. 

Chasing the target, Gladiators opening pair of Tamim Iqbal (40)  and Pradeep Airee (72) shared a partnership of 106 runs. Similarly, Sri Lankan national Upul Tharanga added 39 runs on board. Tigers’ Karim Janat claimed two Gladiators wickets.
