NC's pre-scheduled ward-level convention deferred, date yet to be fixed

KATHMANDU, July 25: The calendar of upcoming 14th General Convention of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has been deferred due to delay in settling the protracted dispute related to active membership. 

A meeting of the NC present and past office-bearers, held on Saturday,  decided to adjourn the ward -level convention of the party, according to party spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma. The convention was scheduled to take place on July 27.

Sharma further shared that a new schedule for the ward convention once the Active Membership Probe Committee coordinator Ramesh Lekhak submits its report to central leadership on July 27. 

It may be noted that the party had decided to submit the list of party active membership with the signature of party president to the central election committee on July 14. 

The general convention calendar has been affected as the dispute of active membership has yet to be finalized in some districts. 

The central working committee meeting of the party held on June 18 had decided to conduct the 14th general convention of the party between September 1 and 4 in Kathmandu.
