Robbers loot properties worth 1 million at gun point


JALESHWOR, June 17: A group of dacoits on Wednesday night broke into the house of a businessperson at Samsi Rural Municipality in Mahottari district and decamped with properties worth around 1 million. 

The robbers around 10 in number looted the properties at gun point, said the police. The robbery took place at around 2 am. 

The robbers broke the back door of the house belonging to one Birendra Sah and took under control Sah and his family members at gun point before decamping with the properties, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Bista. Sah has sustained bullet injuries in a fight with the dacoits while his wife Sushila Devi, sons Shambhu and Rajib and daughter Kanchan Kumari were injured when they attacked them with iron rods in the face and head, he said. 

The injured, who are receiving treatment at Godavari Hospital in Janakpur, are said to be in serious condition. The looted properties include Rs 200,000 in cash, five tolas gold ornaments and 172 silver ornaments. 

Sah has been running a jewellery shop in his house. A search has been launched for the looters in coordination with the district police office and other police units, said Superintendent of Police Dinesh Acharya.
