Chandragiri-12 chairman Maharjan arrested for cooperative fraud

Kathmandu, December 23 —The Chairman of Chandragiri Municipality Ward No. 12, Nhucche Bahadur Maharjan, has been arrested by the police.

He was detained on charges of embezzling deposits from the Hariyali Savings and Credit Cooperative in Thamel.

Maharjan, 56, a resident of Chandragiri Municipality-12, was arrested from Babarmahal, according to SSP Basanta Rajaure of the Kathmandu District Police Range.

Maharjan had served as the treasurer of the cooperative. He had been on the run after an arrest warrant was issued by the court.
