Nepal taking on Australia tonight
KATHMANDU, June 10: Nepal National Football Team is playing its final World Cup Asian Qualifiers match against Australia.
The match is being played at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium at 9:45PM on Friday.
With this, Nepal is wrapping up the World Cup Qualifiers. Earlier, Nepal registered its 2-0 victory against Chinese Taipei on June 3 while losing to Jordan 3-0 on June 7.
Nepal, along with Jordan, Australia, Taipei and Kuwait, is pitted in Group B. With six points from two wins, Nepal is at the fifth spot of the points table. Nepal, however, lost its five matches -- against Australia, Kuwait and Jordan. Australia and Jordan are the table leaders.
Nepali national team head coach Abdullah Almutairi said young players yet to play for the national team are likely to feature in the match against Australia.
"Yes, if everything goes well they will play. I understand playing against Australia is going to be difficult but it is important for them to play," said coach Abdullah in the pre-match press conference before the Australia game.
"Hopefully we shall play another good match against Australia. Our style of play has improved and we have been able to make our supporters happy," he added.
