President Bhandari calls MPs to stake claim for new govt formation
KATHMANDU, May 20: Six days after CPN-UML Chairman Oli was appointed as Prime Minister, President Bidya Devi Bhandari has called upon the Members of Parliament (MPs) to stake their claim for the premiership till 5:00 PM on May 21 to appoint the Prime Minister as per the Article 76 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal.
Issuing a press statement today, Joint Spokesperson at the Office of the President, Keshav Prasad Ghimire, stated that the President made such a call to initiate the new process for the appointment of the Prime Minister at the request from the Prime Minister as per the decision taken from the Council of Ministers on May 20 to initiate a new process to appoint the Prime Minister in accordance with Article 76 (5).
It is stated that such a move was advanced to pave a way for the formation of an alternate government since it is not appropriate to keep the country in uncertainty since there is no fundamental difference in political context than that of May 10 for getting a vote of confidence for the incumbent government.
