Supreme Court issues order not to relieve four JSP lawmakers

KATHMANDU, May 17: The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order not to  implement the decision of Lumbini Province Assembly Secretariat to relieve the four assembly members of their positions.

A single bench of Justice Nahakul Subedi on Monday ruled that the decision of the Provincial Assembly Secretariat to relieve four lawmakers belonging to the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) was not lawful, and ordered their reinstatement.

They were relieved of their membership of the assembly following the letter sent to the Province Assembly Secretariat by a faction of the party led by Upendra Yada.

Acting on the letter, the Speaker of the assembly, Purna Bahadur Gharti had relieved Santosh Pandey, Suman Sharma Rayamajhi, Bijay Bahadur Yadav and Kalpana Pandey of the post of lawmakers on April 30.
