KP Oli re-sworn in as Prime Minister, no change made in Cabinet
KATHMANDU, May 14: KP Sharma Oli has been sworn in as the Prime Minister for the third stint in the office.
President Biday Devi Bhandari administered an oath of office and secrecy to CPN-UML Chairman Oli four days after the latter lost a confidence motion at the House of Representatives (HoR).
PM Oli, will now have to secure a vote of confidence at the lower house of parliament before June 12 as per Article 76 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal.
Oli had previously served as prime minister from October 11, 2015 to August 3, 2016. His second term was from February 15, 2018 after the left alliance won the 2017 parliamentary elections to May 13, 2021.
No new face in Cabinet
PM Oli gave continuity to all the Cabinet members who were part of his government before he lost the trust motion. The leaders, who were close to UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and the Mahantha Thakur-faction of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP)reportedly refused to join the Oli-led Cabinet.
