Om Hospital also says it can’t admit new COVID-19 patients

KATHMANDU, May 9: Om Hospital and Research Center in Kathmandu has said that it will not be able to admit new patients of the coronavirus disease owing to the shortage of live saving oxygen.

Issuing a statement on Sunday afternoon, the hospital said that it will not take new admissions though it is ready to treat the patients of the disease. “The amount of oxygen provided by the government on a quota-basis won’t address the need for new patients,” the hospital said.

The Chabahil-based hospital said that it will resume its regular services once the supply of oxygen is ensured.

Meanwhile, five other hospitals in the country’s capital city have also stopped admitting new patients owing to oxygen crunch.

Four hospitals, issuing a joint statement on Saturday, Medicare Hospital Limited, Nepal-Bharat Maitri Hospital, Dirghayu Guru Hospital and Research Center, Helping Hands Community Hospital  and Ganeshman Singh Memorial Hospital stated that  they would not admit new patients as they have run out of regular supply of oxygen.
