Afghan gov't forces kill 7 militants in eastern Nangarhar province


Afghan government forces during a special operation have killed seven armed insurgents affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) group in the eastern Nangarhar province, said a statement of the provincial government released here Monday.
   
Acting on a tip-off, the security forces stormed a hideout of the militants in Ghochko area on the outskirt of the provincial capital Jalalabad city late Sunday, killing seven IS fighters including a suicide bomber, the statement added.
   
The troops, according to the statement, after killing the militants also discovered arms and ammunition including four suicide vests, three AK-47 rifles, explosive objects and several hand grenades.
   
The IS outfit which is active in parts of Nangarhar province has yet to make comment.
