Woman Dies After Being Pushed From Bridge Without Bungee Cord

Sao Paulo. A 21-year-old woman died after being pushed from a bridge without a bungee cord while bungee jumping in Brazil. This tragic incident occurred due to serious negligence of employees at the Skeleton Bridge in Limeira, Sao Paulo state, Brazil.

The employees conducting the bungee jump forgot to tie the safety rope to the woman's body and pushed her off the bridge. In video footage shot from various angles, two employees are seen carrying the 21-year-old Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas and throwing her off the edge of the bridge. However, none of the employees realized that the safety rope was not tied to her body. A few seconds after Maria was pushed off the bridge, people present there can be heard shouting "rope, rope" in the video.

Unfortunately, shortly before this incident, Maria had posted a picture of the wristband tied for bungee jumping and the bridge on her social media. Sharing a picture on her Instagram, she had written, "Who was that crazy person who let me jump from the bridge?"

Immediately after the incident, although emergency service personnel were called to the scene, she was declared dead on the spot. The rescue team retrieved her body from the gorge and sent it to the Legal Medical Institute for further investigation.

Police have stated that an investigation has been initiated to determine if a criminal case can be filed in this incident. Police have arrested six employees operating the bungee jump from the scene.
