Qatar Delegation Arrives in Tehran Amidst Iran-US War Cessation Efforts

Kathmandu. Efforts to end the ongoing war between Iran and the United States are intensifying, with a high-level delegation from Qatar arriving in Tehran on Sunday.

According to diplomatic sources, this visit is part of an effort to advance the mediation process before a potential peace agreement can be finalized.

According to the Iranian news agency ISNA, a senior advisor to Qatar's Foreign Minister has been sent to Tehran. Another news agency, Tasnim, stated that the main objective of the visit is to review the latest developments regarding the diplomatic process.

A diplomat familiar with the situation confirmed to AFP that Qatari negotiators arrived in Tehran on Sunday morning. Speaking on condition of anonymity, as they are not authorized to speak publicly about sensitive negotiations, they stated that the delegation's goal is to help finalize a potential agreement.

Pakistan has been playing a mediating role in ending the conflict that has been ongoing in West Asia for months. Both the United States and Pakistan have indicated that a war cessation agreement could be signed on Sunday.

However, Tehran has expressed a cautious stance on the timeline. Iranian officials have indicated that discussions are still ongoing on some important aspects of the agreement. Iranian media have also mentioned that a final decision on the proposed framework is yet to be made.

Qatar has played a mediating role in resolving regional disputes in the past. The recent visit of the Qatari delegation to Tehran is seen as an effort to transform the ceasefire into a permanent peace agreement.

However, despite claims that an agreement is close, there still appears to be some uncertainty regarding the timeline, the form of implementation, and the final consensus of both parties.
